Winter Freeze

The tumbling waters of the stream
Swirl around rocks and fallen trees;
Leaves tumble over and water skaters teem,
Before the winter comes with a freeze

To quiet the frenzied scene.

Edge of Destiny- a sonnet

I walked to the edge of a dark and lonely plain

And wondered if this could be worth living for.

Stood above all I knew in the middle of a pouring rain

And despaired of there ever being more.

A lone crow circled above

Croaking softly into that vast expanse,

Looking for its lost love

Or any sign of life, perhaps.

As I watched that lone Corvidae

I saw a mirror of my plight;

Whom I would become if I were to stay

And ponder too long this depressing sight.

I realized I wasn’t focused on what was right

Turned to walk the way from where the crow had come: toward the sunlight.
